On Time and Cradled Like a Baby

Arriving on time was the goal of all early mail coaches and, as the mail carriers combined mail delivery with public transportation, the challenge soon became that of moving mail and people aboard a large, heavy stagecoach in a timely manner. Mark Twain referred to his ride on a Concord Stagecoach across the Midwest as being gentle as a baby carriage gently swaying back and forth. Come out to Fanthorp Inn to enjoy presentations at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm as poets, cowboys, and musicians entertain visitors while they tour the Inn and learn about travel and communications at one of Texas’ most authentically restored stagecoach inns. Stepping onto the Fanthorp front porch is a passage into yesteryear as guides take visitors back to Texas in the 1850s. It’s a unique event the whole family will remember and enjoy! Suggested donations are $4 for adults, $2 for children.

The Plutopia FutureMusic Summit features a spectacular Saturday night concert featuring DJ Spooky, Mari Kimura, and Patrick Flanagan (Jazari) in Festival Concert Hall, as well as symposia and engaging, interactive art/music/tech displays across the Institute’s 220-acre campus. $250 for a 3-day pass; $125 for 1-day; $45 for Saturday night concert and after-party only. Fri 5pm-midnight; Sat 10am-midnight; Sun 8am-noon.
