Head for the Hills Bike Ride

Enjoy an exhilarating ride through the hills of northeast Washington County while partaking of a visual feast of bucolic scenery and, with the cooperation of Mother Nature, a magnificent of display of wildflowers.

The Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department will again provide a hamburger lunch to recharge your batteries after the ride ($10).

Changes this year include:
*More porta-potties at Rest Stops 2 & 3
*Sweat-wicking polyester t-shirts rather than cotton
*First 200 registrants receive free t-shirts. T-shirts available for sale to any registrant online or day of ride as long as supply lasts.
*Raffle for a Weekend in Brenham valued at over $500 with all proceeds benefiting Helping a Hero and PolioPlus.

Early Texas Homes Tour

Independence, TX
Step back into 1800s Texas with these free, docent-guided tours of the John P. Coles Cabin built in 1825 and the Independence Log House built in 1839. Tours are given the weekends of March 16-17, 23-24, April 6-7 and 13-14. Hours are Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

On March 16, there will be a black powder weapons demonstration; on March 17 and 23 the sweet sound of dulcimers will fill the air. On April 13, docents will demonstrate mourning clothing from the 1800s period.
