Blackberries, blueberries and strawberries are increasingly popular fruits for Texas home gardens, due to antioxidants and other health benefits. These three fruits have very different cultural requirements and adaptability to Southeast Texas and the Brazos Valley. This seminar will cover the basics of which varieties to plant, establishment and annual maintenance, soil amendments and pest management.
Monte Nesbitt is an Extension Program Specialist with Texas AgriLife Extension. He works in the Extension Horticulture department at College Station, and has statewide responsibilities for pecan production and general fruit and citrus production in East Texas and the Gulf Coast.

Poor Boy Model A Tour

Model A’s and their owners will join the Piney Wood Model A Ford Club from Harris county as it hosts the 44th annual Poor Boy Tour. More than 75 Model A’s are expected to enjoy the back roads of Washington County and downtown Brenham. Wave as they go by and you will be treated to the famous AHOOGA horn sound and lots of smiles. Saturday morning the group will line up at the Washington County Fairgrounds Event Center and travel to Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site for tours and lunch. They’ll return to Brenham to explore the downtown area that afternoon
