20 Things to Do With the Kids This Summer

Pokémon Go! – The newest real-world game has hit the nation by storm and young folks are enjoying the incentive to get outside and wander around, without leaving their phones at home. PokeStops and gyms are all over Brenham and Washington County, so get out today and find Pokemon!
Blue Bell Aquatic Center – the outdoor pool opens Memorial Day weekend and will be open during the week most of June & August and all of July.
Silver Wings – roller skating (or blading), arcade and food, a great way to enjoy the air conditioning! 🙂
Horseshoe Junction – family-fun park with mini golf, laser tag, arcade, go carts, climbing wall, bumper boats and brand new kid zone for the younger ones! Open June-August seven days a week.
Westwood Cinema – six screens of great movies & yummy popcorn! We even have 3D!
Antique Carousel – open weekends every Sat. & Sun. through October. Only $1 per rider, good for all day!
Movies in the Park – free for all, this is a relaxing way to spend time with your family.
Geocaching – this family-fun activity is practically free and a great way to incorporate technology and the outdoors. Geocaching is a real-world treasure hunt using a GPS device or smartphone app to find cleverly hidden containers placed around the world. In Washington County, you can find caches placed along the Birthplace of Texas GeoTour to win a geocoin!
Jersey Barnyard – Ever want to milk a cow? Get up close and personal here at Jersey Barnyard and do just that!
Peeka Ranch Alpacas – these unique animals love company, and food! Come feed and pet the alpacas, enjoy the farm and buy a memorable treasure from the gift shop. (Call for tour times – 979-830-5020)
Washington-on-the-Brazos – learn about Texas history, visit the farm animals at WOB’s Barrington Living History Farm and see how kids lived in the 1800s. Open daily with special programs most weekends.
TC Ranch Horsemanship – learn how to ride a horse at TC Ranch! Clinics for kids and adults are available.
City parks – enjoy a picnic and a play session at several of our parks! We’ve got wonderful playground equipment, fields to play ball, fly a kite, or just run around in, and plenty of tables for a picnic. We even have a park for dogs to run & swim off-leash!
Grape Stomps! Two of our four wineries hold grape stomps each summer and the kids love purple feet! Pleasant Hill Winery‘s Crush for Fun is the last two weekends in July and the first two in August. Windy Winery‘s Harvest Grape Stomp is every weekend in July and the first two in August.
Cowboy Exhibit at the Chappell Hill Museum featuring The Life and Legend of V.T. ‘Cowboy’ Williams will be on display June 7-July 31 during museum hours. (Museum open Wed-Sat 10-4 & Sun 1-4)
Where’s Waldo? – Kids can hunt for Waldo throughout downtown Brenham in the month of July to be entered into drawings for prizes. This is a great way to get the kids to go shopping with you! (Hosted by Brenham Book Nook)
Drama Camp at Unity Theatre – kids in grades 2-12 can have fun while learning about the art of theater.
Pinnochio – this production is the result of all the kids’ hard work at drama camp. Performances are July 28-31.
Hot Nights, Cool Tunes – kids are welcome to join the adults at the great free concerts in downtown Brenham. Visitors will also enjoy food, drinks and a car show. Concerts are July 9, 16, 23, 30. Bring your chairs to the courthouse square – music starts at 7pm.
Texas Cotton Gin Museum – the official cotton gin museum of Texas keeps the legacy of cotton alive for all generations. Open Tues-Sat 10-4 with tours of the gin at 10am and 2pm.
